The petition was authored after the Federal Drug Administration (FDA) published its `Findings of No Significant Impact' (FONSI). The information I presented during our July 13, 2018 meeting should demonstrate Oxitec data integrity concerns from Cayman scientists and public safety concerns related to what grows when antibiotics are used. This is NEW information relative to the FDA FONSI. Therefore, it was not able to be factored into the FDA decision. Now they have transferred the analysis of these concerns to EPA as discussed. It is my belief that the demonstration of Cayman Scientist concern over the mold (fungus) issue in the production facility strongly supports the fear that the production process breeds and promotes more than the intended insects. It must be assumed the use of antibiotics in the mass raising of insect livestock will breed more undesirables than mold (fungus). We see this when humans get yeast (fungus) infections and resistant bacterial infections from appropriate antibiotic use. Antibiotic resistant bacteria and risks antibiotic resistant infections must be studied with this new technology in humans and animals. Manufactured Insects which will share their bacteria 1. with female insects via mating and 2. simple surface exchanges. Females and surfaces then sharing these bacteria with humans via direct contact. All this as the World Health Organization makes the policy statement that antibiotics should not be given to healthy animals and declares an antibiotic resistance crisis. Please support our petition with the requested testing. Sincerely, John W Norris III MD FACP Ex. 6 Personal Privacy (PP) Sent from my iPad Sierra Club v.
