This memo requests your help in registering as many industry employees as possible for this event, where the future of chlorine chemistry may well be decided. The enclosed flyers, prepared by the Council of Great Lakes Industries, the economic development trade association that is coordinating industry's participation in the meeting, describe the event and its significance in more detail. Note that the IJC is allowing registrants to send substitutes, if necessary, should schedule changes later prohibit someone from attending. It is very important that as many industry representatives as possible register as soon as possible. Registration is limited, and we expect Greenpeace and its supporters to try and pack the house. CGLI would like industry to be highly visible throughout the event, but particularly urges attendance at the Greenpeace "Chlorine-Free" debate Thursday evening, the CGLI "Dialogue" Friday morning, the Virtual Elimination Task Force presentation Friday afternoon, the industry presentation Saturday morning and the public hearings Saturday afternoon. Copies of the registration form are also enclosed, as are a number of registration postcards, which CGLI is asking all industry registrants to complete and return. Please distribute these materials to the appropriate individuals in your company as quickly as possible, and ask them to give this their highest priority. Also consider asking your customers and suppliers to attend. Those companies with operations in the Great Lakes region, in particular, are critical to conveying the impact that the IJC's recommendation to sunset chlorine chemistry could have on industry and society.
