N E W JERSEY 07001 RHONE f20r> B4I-420I To Our Molding Compound customers; Effective December 31st, 1980, RCI will discontinue the manufacture of cj&w-fcerirt molding compounds containing asbestos. These products are 25346, 25347, 25388, 25397, 25'398, 25506, 92936, and 92506. This decision was prompted by our realization that governmental regulatory standards controlling the allowable limit for free asbestos fiber may be drastically lowered to a point whereby it would be very difficult, and much too costly, to adapt our manu facturing facility to aomply. . In preparation for this day, we initiated an asbestos replacement program in 1974 which, resulted in replacing asbestos in all general purpose phenolics and the development of new heat resistantelectrical grade molding compounds that would not only have adequate properties, but would maid easily.. We have studied competitive non asbestos materials and determined their short comings, and improved upon our dimensional stability, heat resistance, and post-cure shrinkage characteristics to a point where we feel that we have a quality product. Our exclusive extrusion process will continue to give the batch to batch consistency with our non-asbestos grades as it has in the past with our asbestos filled compounds. Where many of our customers have.elected to participate in an asbestos replacement program, we offered the non-asbestos compound price schedule. Effective July 1st, 1900 the full $.03 per pound premium will be charged for the asbestos filled compounds. We value you as a customer and it is our desire to keep you as a customer, our sales representative will be in contact with you shortly concerning this program. Jle and our competent technical service staff under Jim NorfLeet will strive to make the transition a smooth one. Vary tpxlv YPtfrs. / S U M /ip Stephe^T E.
