EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM MEMBERS AND EMPLOYEES REQUIRED TO USE RESPIRATORS This certification of physical fitness is required by OSHA under 29 CFR 1910, paragraphs 1910.134 (b)(10) and 1910.156 (b)(2), for the purpose of protecting the well-being of employees who may be subjected to above-average stress on the job. Emergency Response Team members may be required to wear heavy clothing and use various types of breathing apparatus. They may be subject to heat, fumes, smoke, and above-average exertion. Users of respirators, including the cannister types, full-face fresh air breathing masks, and Scott Air Paks, will be subject to reduced air intake at times and the acocnpaning physical stress.
