Running a pH Analysis on the Cooling Tower 1.0 Objective: 1.1 The purpose of this procedure its to provide a written guide when performing a pH analysis using the Orion pH meter- Model #420A. 2.0 Safety: 2.1 Safety glasses are required at all times while handling chemicals in the lab. 3.0 Responsibility: 3.1 It is the responsibility of the Lab Technician to ensure the equipment is maintained in working condition. 3.2 It is the responsibility of the Lab Analyst performing the analysis to insure this procedure is followed in a safe and environmentally sound manner 4.0 Procedure: 4.1 Press the power button on the panel to turn on the meter. 4.2 Press the mode button to select the pH mode indicated by the arrow displayed on the screen. 4.3 Remove the probe from the solution and clean with deionized water. 4.4 Place the probe in a 4pH buffer solution. 4.5 Press the 2"*. button. 4.6 Press the Qai button. "Ready" should be displayed on the screen at this step. 4.7 Press the yes button. "PI" should be displayed at this step. 4.8 Remove the probe from the solution and clean with deionized water.
