The three bulk samples were examined by optical microscopy. All three samples were found to consist almost entirely of fibrous material. An x-ray diffraction scan of the samples revealed that all these samples were of similar composition. The chief crystalline material present was found to be chrysotile - a form of asbestos. The three filter samples have been analyzed by counting all fibers greater than 5 uni long using phase contrast microscopy as specified by the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH).
