The intent of this discussion was to get us connected with the on-going C-8 related activities in CRG and to explore ways to create synergy between the efforts in Ruoroproducts SBU and CRG. The effort in CRG is aimed at identifying and developing technology in removing or containing C-8 in groundwater or leachate of solid waste that the C-8 level in the discharged/into river. groundwater from monitoring wells at Washington Works Ron mentioned has been determined to be around 50-200 ppb. The test on the leachate water from Letart landfill (next to Washington Works) has shown thaletvtehleoCf -C8-8levinelwias taetr.2-3Bapspemd. on Tehxepreerfiomreentthsepirecrfuorrrmenetd faotcEuxspiesritmoefnintadl aStwaatiyontorerceemnotlvye, vbeortyh laocwtivated carbon and peat moss are effective in reducing C-8 (n water down to several ppb level. They are stilt in the first'phase concept development stage. They will need to follow-up the initial leads and further quantify the effectiveness of different types of C-8 absorbents. 1 can see that the on-going C-8 remediation related work in CRG can be additive to the on-going C-8 containment effort in the following ways: 1. Selection of most effective absorbents in treating waste water containing low level of C-8. 2. Further broaden our knowledge and approach in dealing with C-8 containing waste streams. Ron has taken steps to ensure that we are closely connected such that CRG and our SBU can benefit from each other in C-8 removal expertise. EID937918
