Ennton, New Jersey OS602 Subject r Teehideal Cosadttee Assignment PLAINTIFF'S SrEtXfH-IBwIT l Deer Berry* ; - The Board of Directors of S2*FXft ^ at its nesting on Kerch 22nd, has agreed to conduct further tests as an Association, which tests will he done by Bert Levins, at a water to liber ratio of one-to-one using a 15-jet atomizing gun and a spray rate of 15 pounds a minute to determine the dost level-with Asbestospray at distances of 10*, 20', ItQ' and 50' from the hopper and from the spray gun* It is necessary for us to find a suitable location to conduct these tests and, preferably, a location that will be available for future tests, having the required facilities to do the spraying as veil aa the space measured from the equipment, whereby these testa sight be repeated. Please note that the actual spray set-up and sprsy test conduct will be run by Bert Levine, however, the future tests will have to be con ducted by your Tochnical Committee as they will then involve the other in dustry products and it is agreed to delay those future tests until both your Company and Smith & Eanzler has what it believes to be a workable dust con trol process for your respective fibers. The charge and assignment to your Connittee has to do with estab lishing vhat night be called recoassended industry practices or a recommended industry standard, describing the application of spray mineral fiber products for the prevention of health hazard or dust nuisances. In this industry practice or standard, it should be specified that the spray crev should wear dust masks and that anyone working within (I) feet of the spray nozzle .or the machine hopper should wear dust casks. a recommendation should also exist in that standard relating to windbreaks on * a job, to clean up each night, particularly with respect to vettirj down the fiber after ita been swept or during or before sweeping, perhaps a caution concerning the sprayer shutting off the water before the fiber stops cooing out of the hose, perhaps also recommending the type of gun and minimum water to fiber ratios and such other elements as would have a bearing on either a potential health hazard or a dust nuisance resulting from the spraying ef fiber. It is not necessary to impress you or members of your Coradttee of the seriousness of this matter.
