Since there has been confussion on my part as to the . relationship between EPA and the Bay Area Pollution Control District, he suggested that I submit this letter stating our situation to date. Asbestos has been a standard ingredient in our "interior drywall finishing products". When OSHA was formed and alerted us to the hazard of asbestos, we installed a dust collection system. This has been checked by OSHA and our Insurance Company, Liberty Mutual. In February of this year our facility was inspected by the Bay Area pollution Control Inspector. We were advised that we were required to advise the district to the fact that we handle asbestos in the course of our operation. This letter is attached stating our means of control. Z mistakenly thought that this letter served as the reply required by your March letter. I will now study the October 14, 1975 Register to determine if we are an asbestos emissions source. Once I have established this I will report accordingly.
