T here are indications that som e work has been done at Stanford h e sea rch Institute along the lin es o i our own study. T h is, a s w ell a s the d iscu ssio n s which have taken place betw een our cu sto m ers and DuPont on the subject of higher lead con cen tration s, would inuicate the d e sira b ility o- our e sta b lish in g our p o sitio n of p io n eers in 'this field a s soon a s'p o ssib le . Tith regard to the p o ssib ility that publication of the r e s u lt s n our r e s e a r c h w ork m ig h t s t ir up s o m e u n d e s ir a b le d i s cu ssio n in a ir pollution c ir c le s , it should be reca lled that the gen eral type of study we w ere carrying out and the techniques used have alread y b een d escrib ed at the con feren ce on fu el com bu stion products sponsored by the Southern C aliforn ia A ir P ollu tion Foundation in August of last year. A ltogeth er, it is our feelin g that a g reem en t to publish in the A m erican Journal oi H ygiene and prior d iscu ssio n oi our work with c u s tom ers through joint tech n ical con feren ces would allow ua to cap italize oa this work with our cu stom er co m p a n ies.
