Heisler Medical Department W. G. Krummrich Plant ' Monsanto Company Sauget, Illinois 62201 Dear Mr. Heisler: I again want to thank you and your wonderful staff in the Medical Department for their invaluable assistance in the examination which was conducted by the University of Cincinnati group during the week of Octo ber 1. The superb relationship which your staff enjoys with employees and their efficient professional participation made it possible for the University of Cincinnati group to fulfill its examination objectives. Please convey my gratitude and deep appreciation to them. In the subsequent review of medical and work histories, several questions have arisen which I hope you can help with: 1. Several employees indicated that during the period in which pentachlorophenol was being manufactured, a number of workers were taken out of the process for medical reasons; retired for medical reasons; or quit the company because of illness attributed to the pentachlorophenol exposure. Do your records substantiate this? If so, would it be possible to have a list of employees and the medical diagnoses which were made and accountable for their trans fer, retirement, or termination? 2. Several examinees told us that in a period between 1962 and 1970, the plant prepared esters of 2,4,5-T and also formulated Agent Orange. Questions which need answering include: Was the ester of 2,4,5-T made at W. G. Krummrich? Was 2,4-D made at Krummrich? Was Agent Orange formulated at Krummrich? For how long and during what years did any of the above take place? Would it be^possible to re view the records of workers who were exposed at W.G.K. in any of the above procedures? How^.many of these workers were in the group we examined? I would be very grateful for matter. assistance you can provide in this * C25555 Anr^rn k14305 Mr. Paul E.
