Dr. Kehoe and Mr. Hesselberg will confer with authorities in the state of California on March 10 and 11. You will also note that the letter of the Surgeon General states that the natter should be discussed with state health authorities in the states concerned, tie have not yet finally decided what scope of discussion this will dictate. KEHOE__________________ MARCH 29, I960 A proposed release has been prepared on the technical development phases of X-105A for publication in "Chemical and Engineering News". This article discusses the toxicity work, and because of the prominence of Dr. Kehoe's name, he was telephoned for approval. This approval was obtained after a minor suggestion made by him. With reference to the expected letter from the Surgeon General on several small items such as the marking of pumps, Dr. Kehoe has not yet received the reply. He has been advised verbally that the letter was in preparation and has been given the gist of the contents. The reason for the delay in receipt of the actual letter Is unknown. With reference to the additional investigations required to satisfy the Surgeon General in his request for a report after a year's commercial use, Dr. Kehoe stated that he will be in San Francisco from April 7 on. The length of his stay will depend upon the time required to review the various sites where sampling will be done,and the reaching of agreement on a test procedure and other details. Dr. Kehoe stated that he was currently completing a memorandum of what he considered the essentials of the proposed program and it was requested that he send his memorandum directly to Dr. Curtis who with Mr. H. R. Porter has been locating suitable test sites. In view of the interests involved in the forthcoming investigation, and Dr. Kehoe's remoteness from this area, the writer agreed to advise those concerned so that appropriate programming can be taken care of.
