On reading your letter it was immediately clear that there had been some confusion and I am afraid I put it aside until I had some spare time to sort it out. How I have done so and sadly the explanation is only too clear - you have given me the Information about numbered cases in the register, when what I wanted was information about cases with the specified numbers in the CMA report Table 17. In fact I had all the information on your enclosed list (dated 21 October . 1988) and agreed with all of It except the following; CMA Wong no. ASL Register Your list My preferred match 28 9 17 31 32 29 What I wanted to know was why CMA Wong numbers 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, 14, 16, 21, 24, 29, 30, 32, 33, and 34 were not in your ASL register. Of the above only 7 is referred to as an angiosarcoma by Wong. No. 9 might possibly be your ASL no* 32 but the match As not very good. What 1 went to know 1st (1) why was Wong no* 7 not in your register? (ii) can you get any evidence about the diagnoses of the other cases? Either we have to conclude that there is a suggestion of an excess of hepatocarcinoma of the liver from VC (14 deaths against 6 expected) or that the number of angio sarcoma cases has been underestimated. The latter seems to me more likely. But before writing a further report on our prediction of the number of deaths to be expected from angiosarcoma we must find out the answers to my two questions above. CONFIDENTIAL Boss v.
