Morgan, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer, United States Gypsum Company, announced today the acquisition of Chicago Mastic Company for an undisclosed amount of common stock. C.M.C. manufactures an extensive line of synthetic adhesives for applying wall panels, ceiling tile, coves, moulding, and all types of floor coverings as well as for a number of industrial uses. The adhesives are sold nationally, principally through distributors. C.M.C. sales for its fiscal year ended March 31, 1971, exceeded $4,000,000. The company employs about 90 people in its.main plant at 7100 North Mannheim Road in Rosemont, II., and a branch plant on ..-- North Ashland Avenue in Chicago. After acquisition, C.M.C. will continue to be operated by present management, under the direction of founder George M. Wray, as a wholly-owned subsidiary of U.S.G.
