Re: Vinyl Institute Comments to Louisiana's DEQ
Dear Meredith:
I enclose two copies of the comments on the Louisiana vinyl chloride air standard for your records. The version submitted to DEQ is essentially as circulated earlier forx comments but with two minor changes. First, and perhaps foremost, the qualification "draft," referring to both the 1985 EPA report and the inhalation unit risk factor it included, was removed. A consultant we were in contact with had referred to this EPA report as a draft; however, when I finally was able to obtain a copy it was clear that the report was a final one. I am not sure where the confusion was, but if you could see the EPA reports I have collected since work began on this project, the fact that some confusion existed would not be surprising. Second, reference to the numerical unit risk factors calculated from Gehring's papers were removed at the request of Dow.
I hope everything works out well. Please let me know if there is anything further I can do.
Cordially yours,
Robert A. Mathews, Ph.D.
