November 28, 1958 Dr, Morris Shelanskl Industrial Biology Research and Testing Laboratories, Inc, P. 0. Box 73w Philadelphia 1, Pennsylvania Dear Dr, Shelanskl: Thank you for your letter of November 14th and for your protocol of studies on Vinyl Chloride, Although the estimate of cost Is not widely different from your rough guess at the time of our meeting, I must confess surprise. At that time, I was unable to make quick mental calculations adding costs of hematology and histopathology and substractlng from your figure to get estimate of cost of actual exposure manipulations. Taking your unit costs for specified Items, we cannot total more than about $2,500 for each experimental group for 3 months study. This leaves $17,500 as cost for exposure manipu lations which we feel Is not within reason. Our competitive estimate was substantially different, and we regret we cannot place this work, with you. However, in asmuch as your rough estimates of other types of toxicology appeared quite comparable to other work being done for us, we may be able to get together on other work as problems arise. Very truly yours, WAK *. ncm ,, * . _ , *I ' '< A. W. A. Knapp Research Consultant i i.l oils AS I 000015800
