'V the Association be approved,.' ACCEPTANCE OF RESIGNATIONS It was reported that letters of resignation had been received from Muudet Cork Corporation, M. H. Detrick Company and Keasbey St Matcison Comuanv. A motion was made, seconded and passed That the resignations be accepted with regret. TREASURER'S REPORT Mr. W, G. Neel outlined the Association's Balance Sheet, Statement c Income and Expenditures, and Comparison of Actual Exoense to Budget as of March 31, 1964. A motion was made seconded and passed That the Treasurer's Report be accepted and further That the separate accounting pertaining to the sales c the Economic Thickness Manual be discontinued. , 3R0ADENING OF MEMBERSHIP The expansion of membership to include foamed plastic manufacturers was discussed. A Committee consisting of Messrs. ?. D, Kaley, Chairman,'R. E, -- Buckley and E.' 3, Moreno was appointed for the purpose at making recom mendations on the subject at the next scheduled Board o Directors Meeting. ' AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF MARKETING RESEARCH COMMITTEE The future projects of the Marketing Research Committee, as outlined in the Committee Minutes a March 13, 1964, were discussed. It was agreed that the following were reasonable and practical projects for the Committee to undertake: Define existing statistical reporting product categories and .products reported. ..2,-;':;Work'with the Bureau of Census, Department c Commerce, etc., .-u. to improve government statistical reporting. 1652 AIMS AND OBJECTIVES OF MARKETING . RESEARCH COMMITTEE (cor.l;cL f 3. Attempt to ascertain the market potentials of competitive materials (foamed plastics, eta.) (with re.pect to the investigation of the broadening of the Association member- . ship to encompass.foamed plastic types cf insulation, it was suggested that the Committee be informed of this fact and contact the special committee investigating this subject). '4. Follow up Mr. R. E. Buckley's letter pertaining to number of hours worked by union locals in 1963. STATISTICAL REPORTING It was reported that several companies were unable to report statistics an a state basis at this time and that Price Waterhouse it Compaay had been, advised to continue statistics on the old basis for the present time (monthly and regional reports). It was decided that 1963 statistics should not he compiled on a state basis inasmuch as this information is not readily available from the members. Further, it was decided that it was not practical to establish separate reporting- categories for "faced blanket" and "coated blanket", and that the single "faced and coated blanket" category be retained for statistical reporting purposes. The establishment cf a separate category for reporting "Prefabricated Duct Systems" was discussed. The glass manufacturers will be letter balloted on this subject prior to July 1, 1964. * * ^ * MIMA CERTIFICATION PROGRAM This subject was discussed in detail and it was decided that such a .. program would not he undertaken. .. OTHER BUSINESS ' IV Mr. Barnhart was asked to contact NFPA relative to membership ' o on the Air Conditioning- Committee. . 2 2. The Duct Systems Committee is asked to present a survey of code . changes that have been made that increase .the use of prefabricated duct systems. 4 3. It was* reported that the NIMA lease expires on April 31, 1964. It was agreed that the lease should be renewed for 3 years, provid ing any increase in rent that may be asked by the landlord will not exceed 10 percent. Mr. J. M. Barnhart will discuss the new lease with Mr. M. V/. 3urleson before signing. 4. It was agreed that the NIMA Annual.Meeting would be held at the Seaview Country Club, Absecon, N. J., on October 5 and 6, 1964. 5. It was reported that Johns-Manville Sales Corp., was printing . on cottons, crates, etc., containing asbestos products (calcium silicate, magnesia, asbestos cements) a note pertaining to the dust created be these materials. The wording will be as follows: " Caution: This product contains asbestos fiber. Inhalation of asbestos in excessive-quantities over long periods of time may be harmful. If dust is created'svhen this product is handled, avoid breathing the dust. If adequate ventilation control is not passible wear respirators approved by the U. S.
