(Japan Broadcasting Corporation) has reported through its radio broadcast a news of an international conference on oceanic pollution held under the auspices of the Food and Agriculture Organization in Rome, Italy from December 9 through December 28, in which an oceanic pollution of PCB was taken up as a new problem. This will certainly lead the PCB pollution problem to another subject for controversy here in Japan, too. To deal with the new situation, we have had a meeting with Kanegafuchi Chemical, and it has been decided to hold such meetings regularly. we would like to know specifically what subjects were discussed and what resolutions were made at the abovementioned conference concerning PCB, and it would be much appreciated, if you would send us any information and literature available, such as texts of lectures made, minutes of the conference, etc. As to the toxicity data of PCB on human bodies, it is described in your Technical Bulletin that the maximum safe concentration of Aroclor vapor is set between O. 5 - 1.0 mg/m3 by the American Conference of Government Hygienists.
