MIL-I-2819P k MIL-I-2781D- Correlate the two specifications from nonevalative standpoint. Decided we could not take any positive action on this item of correlation of classification and physical properties at this time. The MIL-I-2781D & 281?D "sampling plan", as submitted by NIMA, is being considered and will be followed up by NIMA. . This is considered on important matter* 2* Bureau of Yards k Docks S4Y Specification, Piping and Equipment Insulation* All members have apparently answered Pope, Evans and Robbins with their suggestions. We now expect Jack Barnhart to obtain copies of the proposed 54Y specification on "Piping and Equipment Insulation", submitted to Bureau of Yards k Docks by Pope, Evans and Robbins. When individual members review the new write-up, comments should be sent to the NIMA office. These comments should be sent, without much delay, to insure consideration of industry interests by the Bureau of Yards and Docks. 3. An Index to ASTM and Government Specifications for Industrial Insula tion Table was submitted by Barnhart, and reviewed by members present, C consensus was that original format, separating pipe from blocks, is desirable. Other changes were suggested by individual members. Barnhart'will circulate revised draft to members for comment. 2 IDCNA Insulation Manual (Insulr.tic-n Distributor Contractor National Association) - Barnhart explain-c*. nistory of their activities. Even though NIMA's Board o Directors has agreed to contribute financially, if such a manual is produced; so far no draft or outline of a manual haa been for review by the T & R Committee. .5 Discussed request from Coast Guard for improved identification or marking on approved insulating material. V/e donlt feel that it is practical to mark product, other than in cartons, .6 "K" values for new ASHRAE Guide & Data Book were submitted to Barnhart by letter ballot in April 1965. Jack will present NIMA's consolidated listing to ASHRAE Committee on. October 7th at the meeting in New York City. 7. Definitions applicable to Thermal Insulation materials has passed C-16 letter ballot, except for definition for "expanded silica". All have been sent to Headquarters, except the one for expanded silica which will be reballoted separately. ( 8* Reminded all members of necessity to keep NIMA informed on all new products. Copies of technical data sheets or other pertinent informa tion should be sent to Barnhart, in sufficient number, for recirculation to committee members. 9. Recommended Practice - Inner and Outer Diameter for Pipe Insulations has passed ASTM G-16 letter ballot, except for one negative ballot. This was discussed at ASTM C-16 T-VIH Committee meeting October 5th, .10 Discussed "Insulation Systems, Feasibility Study and Development" by J. F, Boyle of the Naval Boiler and Turbine Laboratory. Copies of this study will be circulated to NTMA members for review and comment. This will be placed on the Agenda for the next meeting. n. Discussed current situation concerning "Chloride content" of Thermal Insulation. Apparently, creep.ing into the industry is the possibility of a chloride and/or sodium silicate value in thermal insulations for end uses, other than strictly for use on austenitic stainless steel. .12 A reminder was made to committee members of our agreement to use NIMA Economic Thickness Tables in all future sales literature.
