Box 595 Galesburg, MI 49053 axle SALES SOUTMfl-AD RE: 1986 Model Year Non-Asbestos Brake Lining Program Dear Mr. O'Connor: GM Truck and Bus Division Is planning to release non-asbestos brake lining materials on all 1986 air brake models as standard equipment. Eaton Is welcome to participate In the non-asbestos brake program which I will outline in this letter. Drum brake manufacturers are requested to submit to GM Truck and Bus Division no later than 8/1/83 their non-asbestos brake lining proposals for the 1983 production configurations shown on the 1986 NAB lining program charts. These charts are starting points for determining application of NAB lining to GM Truck and Bus product offerings. Brake power and size may be modified to meet the performance abilities of the NAB lining materials available. The GAWR span for a brake size and brake power configuration may also require modification to be compatible with NAB lining performance. Prototypes of brake configurations with recommended NAB lining material should be available for GM Truck and Bus to use for dyno evaluation work by 9/1/83.
