Limit Switch Replacement, Phase III Class "A" Process Design
Attached is the final issue of the class "A" process design to replace the limit switches on 80 valves in the vinyl reactor area. The new limit switches will provide positive indication of valve position by indicating valve stem position, not valve actuator position as existing switches do. This design is the third phase of a program to replace existing limit switches in the vinyl reactor area that would cause quality, safety, or environmental problems without proper indication. The remaining valves in the reactor area that are indicated on the control panel, or are tied into the Modicon are listed in section II B. These valves will not be provided with new limit switches because they would not cause safety or environmental hazards if a leak occurred through the valve.
The first phase orf thnis prrooggrraam replaces the limit switches on 70 valves on the reactors in both modules. This project was included in the compliance plan that resulted from the consent decree entered into with Conoco and the EPA. These include the chem-wash return, hot water charge, sewer, dump, evacuation, recovery and vent valves on each of the ten reactors. Project completion is estimated to be in the first fiscal quarter of 1987.
The second phase of this program replaces limit switches on 46 additional valves on the reactors and VCM charge systems. This phase completed the replacement of limit switches on all major reactor VCM valves and VCM charge system valves. Valves included in this design are the VCM charge valves, the evacuation/recovery valve, the main dump valve, and the valves on the VCM charge systems. This design will be installed in conjunction with phase I and completion is estimated to be in the first fiscal quarter of 1987.
