These replace the emer-^ gency standards published In December. The new .regulations become effective; July 7, 1972. Highlights.of concern to Shell are: 1. Permissible Exposure Level remains at 5 fibers per cubic centimeter until July 1, 1976. At that time the level drops to 2 fibers per cc. The celling concentration stays at 10 fibers per cc. 2. Methods of Compliance Engineering controls are the methods of choice. Respirators and personnel rotation are to be used as secondary methods or in emergencies. ^^tMeaeassuuxrement: Initial determinations on"... every place of employment where asbestos fibers are released..." are to be made by December 7, 1972^ For employees, "... whose exposure to asbestos may reasonably be forseen to exceed the limits..." sampling is to be done at no less than six months' intervals.
