So. 310 Weeflsoon, NY 13166 (315) 83-1-7971 DATE: February 5, 1981 SUBJECT: Stoner Operation In the past four to five years since Fred Eaton has been here running binder trials it has been brought up by him on many occasions that the Stoner on the Model A furnace is not performing satisfactorily. We are all well aware of this and just recently Dave Walczyk came up to measure the draft on the vent system. I have not received any correspondence on his findings, however, at the time he indicated the draft was adequate. All ore sizes give us a problem to some extent, however, #1 and #2 are the real bad ones. If you want to run normal production on these size ores, which Is around 90 bags per hour, you are going to have dust blowing out of the stoner, there Is no way with the present system to control it. If there is we cannot find a way to do it here. We have done everything possible with our stoner and vent system and cannot come up with any answers. When someone comes from Cambridge to take air samples we run a pretty controlled operation so as not to create too much dust so the answers they get In Cambridge look fairly well, so we are doing nothing but sticking our heads In the sand. I would say that someone from engineering has got to take the bull by the horns and do something to correct the problem. I would like to see some comments from some of the other managers. I know I am not alone with this problem so lets get It out in the open and maybe someone will get off dead center and do something. I'll be waiting. I5l44j75 r
