9-28-88 CHEST (PA AND LATERAL): The heart size is normal. There is a calcified plaque in the aortic arch. There is evidence of previous surgery on the right with small surgical staples overlying the hilum. There is blunting of the right lateral costophrenic angle but both posterior angles are sharp. There are believed to be calcified plaques along both diaphragms. A cal cified plaque is believed noted in the pleura along the lower anterior chest wall. There are bilateral calcified and noncalcified plaques along the lateral chest walls. There is no evi dence of lobar consolidation or pleural fluid. Not much inter val change is seen comparing the previous film of 4-9-87.
Conclusion:
Status post op right thoracotomy. Pleural changes bilaterally consistent with asbestosis.
