Y. 10018 Dear Sirs: One of our customers requires that we obtain Kosher certifi cation on some of our polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resins which he purchases. We obtained such certification for several PVC resins four years ago from Rabbi Abraham Leibtag in Akron. We now need to obtain Kosher certification for some additional PVC resins; however due to an extended illness. Rabbi Leibtag will be unable to provide this certification for some time. It was suggested that we contact your organization. Polyvinyl chloride resins are used as a raw material along with other ingredients in the manufacture of vinyl plastic food contact articles such as film wrap, tubing, bottles, conveyor belts, etc. Polyvinyl chloride resins are produced by reacting vinyl chloride with itself in the presence of a catalyst in an emulsifier (detergent) or suspension system. All chemicals used in the manufacturing process are syntheti cally derived; none are of animal origin. Some BFGoodrich PVC resins so produced are known by the trade names Geon 30, Geon 26, Geon 26FG and Geon 80X80. This, then, is a request for Kosher certification for the above BFGoodrich Geon polyvinyl chloride resins. I would like to thank you in advance for your kind consideration of my request.
