EUROPEAN COMMISSION Cabinet of Executive Vice-President Mr Frans Timmermans Head of Cabinet Dear Mr , Brussels, 15/6/2022 I would like to thank you for your letter of 28 March 2022 to the Commission president, as well as the support expressed for EU fluorinated gas policies and their contribution to putting the Green Deal into practise. To increase the ambition and save further emissions, the Commission adopted a new proposal for a revised Regulation on fluorinated greenhouse gases (COM(2022) 150 final)1 on 5 April 2022. I trust that you find many of your primary requests have been addressed. The quota system was strengthened significantly and new prohibitions in crucial areas such as air conditioning were added. Training is extended to all climate-friendly alternatives to ensure their safe use in the future, and a 20-year GWP metric has been added to the Annexes. As regards Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances (PFAS), the relevant technical assessments and eventual policy measures are subject to on-going discussions under the REACH legislation. I count on the Clean Cooling Coalition to help us ensure a quick co-decision process for a new F-gas Regulation that continues to ensure excellent business opportunities for green and innovative companies. Yours sincerely, m Mr CEO Shecco, on behalf of Clean Cooling Coalition @shecco.com 1 https://ec.europa.eu/clima/system/files/2022-04/f-gases_proposal_en.pdf Commission europenne/Europese Commissie, 1049 Bruxelles/Brussel, BELGIQUE/BELGI - Tel.
