S. Zehrung, President of the Pennzoil Company at Oil City, Pennsylvania.. Mr. Howell had originally forwarded a contact report wherein Mr. Zehrung requested information regarding the use of Aviation Gasoline in cigarette lighters and the use of leaded gasoline in stoves. On this original report Mr. Zehrung explained that a driver of one of their gasoline distributors was suffering from the effects of lead poisoning. Mr. Zehrung said that this man's doctor had diagnosed a severe case of digestive trouble from which this man was suffering as arising from lead poisoning. At that time he preferred that we take no action until we heard further from him. We had not received any further information from Mr. Zehrung so that this contact was made in order' to give him the information as noted in your letter of January 22nd to Mr. 0. B. lewis, relative to the use of leaded gasoline in cigarette lighters and the use of non-leaded fuels for gasoline stoves. On this contact Mr. Zehrung reported that Glenn Hovis, a truck driver, for their distributor at Mercer, Pennsylvania, had died about a week ago. He was an employee of the distributor and not of the Pennzoil Company. Mr. Zehrung explained that the man had died from a shrunken liver and that there had been no repercussion from anyone stating that this man might have had lead poisoning.
