Dr. Yant, Research Consultant to the President of Mine Safety Appl ances Company, was a member of the Board of Trustees of Industrial Hygiene Foundation since its inception in 1936, and Chairman of the Board from 1958-1 He also served as a member of the Research Advisory Council and the Chemic Toxicological Committees from 1946-1956. A pioneer and internationally recognized authority in the field of ind trial hygiene, he participated in the formation of Industrial Hygiene Foundatioi and made unlimited contributions of his time, energy and experience to the prt ress of the Foundation.. His strong, personal concern for the Foundation was dominant element in the Foundation's achievements. Dr. Yant's interest in industrial hygiene has been ascribed to his co cern for "any activity which would lead to greater health, comfort and safety f' human beings. " His plans were large and as a result millions of workers in ir try have benefited by his untiring efforts to safeguard their health. Industrial Hygiene Foundation and the entire field of industrial health has lost one of its staunchest supporters. During his long career, Dr. Yant had 38 U.S. Patents and 28 Foreig Patents on safety and industrial instruments, equipments and methods. He aut ed 150 publications on the knowledge and practice of occupational health and sa He was first president of the American Industrial Hygiene Association which hi helped found in 1939. Eight years later the group presented him the Cummingi Award for his accomplishments in this field. I.
