Please accept ay best thanks for this further service to the enquiry we are making.
As you know, our enquiry is in the early stages and we are pummled to know how the PCB contamination has occurred. Jensen's observation that contamination was first detectable in birds collected in 1944 could possibly be significant, as it suggests that the large-scale destruction of stores of all kinds by burning and slaking could be the most likely cause. Presumably consideration has been given to this possibility in the corresponding Investigation of pesticidal contamination, although to date nobody appears to have mentioned it, and it has not cropped up in any of our recent discussions. Your comments would be greatly appreciated.
Yours sincerely,
D.V.N. HARDY
