Webb Ethyl Gasoline Corporation Chrysler Building Kew York City Hew York Dear Mr. &ebb: Thanks for your letter of August 8th in which you have indicated that you v/ill put into effect the policy which I suggested in regard to employees who may discontinue their services with the Corporation. In the matter of the field representatives of the Corporation, we are examining them periodically at the present time* about a year and a half ago, it came to my attention that a number of these men had not lad regular examinations and at that time I inaugurated the routine of having these men examined at the times of our regular trips in the various districts. Occasionally one of the men la out of reach for some reason or other but we have examination records on all of the men and it is our intention to keep-track of them in the-same fasion that employees of the refineries are kept under obser vation* In the case of the various employees in the laboratories of the Corporation, we have also developed a routine which sees to it that they are examined from time to time and much more frequently than the mixing men. This is partly because the hazards of their work are not as well defined as are those of the mixing men and partly because we feel a certain responsibility for any type of Illness which may develop in these mein which on the one hand may make it inadvisable for them 'to continue in their occupation or on the other hand makes them less useful than they should be in their work. We expect to keep all of these men tinder super vision. In fact it is our purpose, so far as possible, to render every medical service which is possible to all employees of the Corporation. The field men are usually examined at the Division offices. Arrangements are usually made in advance with the division manager that on a certain day or days, the doctor will be there and that all men who can, be there for examination.
