Bates and Fessenden regarding their continued concerns over the accuracy of the study conducted by Dr. David Wegman (The "Study") relative to the causes of d eath for workers at General Electric - Pittsfield. In order, to best understand the study and relieve those concerns, the following information is needed. The inclusion of all appropriate workers in the Wegman study is still in question. I, therefore, respectfully request a listing of al 1 workers included in the Study, categorized by job c o d e , exposure level and individual buildings, I further request a listing of all worker deaths which were excluded from the Study. F igure ZII-1 on page 111-55 in d i c a t e s that this list is co m p r i s ed --of iOOO individuals. Dr. Thomas Sinks of N.I.O.5.H. indicated in a February 14, 1990 letter to me (enclosed) that this is a reasonable request and should not infringe upon individual privacy considerations. In addition, I request the input data that supports Table 1 on page 11 of Dr. Wegman's Cancer Mortality Assessment Pertaining to Buildings 12 and 100 dated 9-30-87 (the "Odds Ratios for Cancer and Working in Building 12 and/or 100 for 5 Years or More"); the names and causes of death of the unexposed controls and the names and causes of death of the exposed controls is specifically requested. While this data is In the final Study, review of the actual input information would be helpful. I & Di , J 3 k Dr Stephen Hamilton May 10, 1990 Page Two Upon satisfactory review of this input information, I have every confidence that any 1inhering concerns regarding the final Study can be put to rest However, should questions arise after the review of this data, I hope that you and/or Dr, Wegman will be available to address them. Thank you for your continued interest and consideration in this matter. Very truly yours, S/rj f enc ces Dr. David Wegman Dr. Thomas Sinks Mr Bruce Parren /Mr Ronald D e s g r o s e i l 1iers Mr. Edward Bates Mr- Charles Fessenden Sherwood Guernsey State Representative
