Sheehan date February 2, 1968 This letter is to inform you of our intention to terminate the Victor truck, running between Chicago and Robinson, on February 9, 1968. We have found that our equipment is hot being utilized to its fullest capacity due to the lack of materials moving between these two plants. It has been estimated that future volume per week from Plant 4 would be approximately one and a half trailer loads of finished goods for Plants 5 and 8. The materials from Plant 1 would also be less than a one and a half trailer per week. On a reduced schedule such as this, the cost to ship via common carrier would be considerably cheaper than the cost of maintaining our own equipment. The cost to run our truck twice a week, or eight times a month, would be over $1,900.00. The cost to move three trailer loads per week, -or twelve per month, via common carrier would be ap proximately $1,600.00. With the elimination of the Victor truck, we will have to rely upon common carriers (T.I.E.) for the movement of raw materials and finished goods between Chicago and Robinson. Normal delivery time, via T.I.E., is overnight. RoBinson will continue to ship Dana Parts* materials to us for trans fer to Churubusco. There is a definite freight rate advantage in combining Plant 5 and Plant 8 orders on one bill of lading. We will, however, make a survey to determine the exact savings. Data Processing reports, interplant mail, and small shipments can be shipped via United Parcel Service. Delivery time should be second day. .
