A Costello recently wrote you about the case of one pipe fitter who had been formerly engaged in tank cleaning work. has not been engaged in this work since the summer of 1940, and has been subsequently examined by Socony's doctors at least three times since then. Me are attaching hereto copy of a letter from Mr. Kiley, of Socony, regarding their practice in having their men examined. Mr. Biley lists the names of the four physicians used by them in their examination work. He states that he is entirely agreeable to using any doctors whom you may feel are better qualified to examine the men from a lead standpoint. He states that there will be no difficulty in bringing all the men into Boston for examina tion, as they make their plans for this work about six months in advance. By reason of the questions which arose recently, it may be that more definite information is desirable at the time of the examination and if so, the further question arises as to the advisability of having a doctor approved by Dr. Kehoe, who may be available in Boston, make these examinations. If such is advisable we can, with some little inconvenience, arrange to have all men engaged in tank cleaning work come to Boston sometime during the six-month period for their periodic examination. ; It was my understanding that this thought had been broached some time ago but I have not been advised as to its outcome.
