There is a lot of concern right now with AFFF, a firefighting agent, and it's environmental impact. It's been in the media lately as the groundwater and drinking water at some military bases and other public water services was found to have PFOS/PFOA contamination. These are chemicals found in AFFF, and may have been discharged to the environment during testing or during firefighting operations. We in 05 have been involved because we own the MIL-Spec for the AFFF used by all the military services, plus we require this AFFF for our shipboard firefighting systems. We are working with ASN, OPNAV, DLA and OSD. Should we be asking ASN to include you on distro's such as the attached? And if so, should it be one of you or is there someone else they should copy? I don't know if any questions or inquiries would come to NAVSEA HQ, but it's possible.
