The total production ol zinc cathodes i'or the year
was 337,305,341 pounds, of wiiich 9,271,410 pounds cane from
the retreutment ol zinc plant dross. 2,123,339 pounds ol cathodes
was produced Iron zinc oxide recovered Iron zinc casting plant
bag-house. 20,409,809 pounds or zinc, as zinc dust, was returned to the zinc Leaching Department for solution purification.
3,343,784 pounds of zinc dust was returned to the Purification
Residue Plant lor solution purification, and 1,223,681 pounds ol
zinc dust was used in the retreatment of purification residue
ror the recovery ol cadmium.
The Casting Plant treated 337,095,672 pounds ol Great
Falls cathodes, producing slabs in an amount ol 291,530,036
pounds. No Anaconda cathodes were treated. The Casting Plant also produced 24,932,273 pounds ol zinc dust and 24,675,314
pounds ol zinc dross (including taghcuse zinc oxide) containing
20,139,387 pounds ol zinc. 3,317,839 pounds ol zinc in dross
was sold to other companies. 01 the cathodes treated at the
Casting Plant, ->5,343,219 pounds was Company zinc, and 242,352,403
pounds was toll zinc. From Company cathodes was produced
82,Z'J.,2o8 pounds ol slabs, arid iron toll cathodes was produced 209,233,678 pounds oi slabs.

25,126,696 pounds ol lead, 7,869,414 pounds of copper, 3,31,90o.Q5
ounces of silver, and 11,729.744 ounces of gold, included in this
figure are 84,393.65 tons of regular zinc plant residue, and
9,636.15 tons cl purification copper residue stdpped to Anaconda
The 9,686.15 tons ol purification copper residue is the result
of treating purification residue from both Anaconda ana Great
Falls Line Plants; 8.47 tens of Last Helena Slag Treatment Plant
baghouse fume was sold locally during the year.

Company at Omaha, Kebraska, lor refining and with return of
refined lead to Anaconda Sales Company.
The Cadmium Plant produced 1,036,604.70 pounds of
metallic cadmium during 1949, of which 1,221,064.70 pounds
..'as Company cadmium and 642,540.00 pounds toll cadmium. ' A
total of 2,101,186.46 pounds, including that alloyed in de
bused zinc, was snipped during the year, of which 1,237,605.70
was for. the Company and 363,580.76 pounds was toll cadmium, on
January 1, l5C there was on hand at the Great Falls Plant a
total oi 51,778.67 pounds of finished cadmium, of which

The total inventory as or January 1, 19uC, was 28,323.21 troy ounces, or which 20,322.93 was at Great Falls.
The ho. 1 Rod Mill operated 25 snirts and no. 2.Rod Mill operated Is shilts during 1949.
The net rod production for the ho. 1 Mill ror the year was 10a,302,043 pounds, and tat gross production iincluding scrap and scale; was 106,064,006 pounds. The net rod production
ti.e ho. 2 Mill was 5,13G,o75 pounds, and tne gross proauction was 5,232,194 pounds.
A new record production of 5/3" rods was established on Oecember 16, 1949 with 1,610 bars rolled for a total weight of 002,456 pounds, v/hich was a new record both for number or bars and weight rolled in an eight-hour shirt.
Trie production of wire, including wire ;aade into strand, was 9,2uo,o?u pounds. There was also produced during the year 252,536 pounds oi urawn rods, and 10,738 pounds o! twisted, flat wire, waking a total wire and drawn rod production oi 9,453,444 pounds. The strand production was 3,945,005 pounds.

Ferromanganese production at Great Falls was dis continued with tne raianight shirt July 31, 1949 u,,d the furnace remained down until November 28, 1949, when operations were resumed.
During the year 1949 the Ferromanganese Plant produced 4,647.542 long dry tons or ferromanganese, assaying 80.35,* manganese. Shipments amounted to 4,643,246 long dry tons.
In the month of December we produced 567.18 long tons of ferromanganese, widen is a record nigh production ior any one month of operation of the furnace at Great Falls.
5. GIG iLRAL The annual report or Sirs. Dahl, our Industrial Nurse,
uhows that duriiig the year she made 964 house calls, 251 calls to hospitals, and averaged 3l hours per day in the North Montana Clinic Office, caring ior 641 patients and holding 254 baby clinics. In the homes sne cared for a total or 547 patients; 136 men, 209 women, 130 pre-scnool children and 72 school children,
Membership in the A.c.M. Club January 1, 1949 was 319 and on December 31, 1949 it was 378. The goir course officially opened June 5, 1949. Members of the Meadow Lark Country Club were permitted to play on the course while rebuild ing of their course was being completed. Liberal guest privi leges were also extended to personnel at the Last base of the U.5. Air Force.

Arrangements were made lor the a .C howling League to bowl at Little's Lanes, alleys In the city or Great iails, and two shirts, on eight alleys, bowled on two nights a week. I'orty teams participated in regular weekly schedule. riant tournament was held at the close or the season, in which 31 teams took part. The games bowled during the season totaled 16,3*5. Twenty-two teams participated in the A.C.M. bowling tournament held in Butte.
Construction or a new clubhouse lor Great falls employees was begun during the year and foundation work was completed and brick work was begun, but delivery of steel was delayed by reason ox the steel strike, so that only a limited amount of brick work could be erected. All or the building and rcoxing steel was delivered in January ani February, I960, so that construction can now go ahead without further interruption.
The total maturity value or bonds purchased by employees of the Great falls Reduction Department from January 1, 1942 to January 1, 1*50, amounted to j2,923,680,00 and the total maturity value of bonds purchased by Great Falls employees of the Anaconda -lire and Cable Company amounted to .234,676.00 for tiid same period, giving a total of 3,163,365,00 in bonds pur chased tlirough Company iacilities by the Great Falls employees. The total maturity value ol bonds purchased by employees at the -uat nelena alag Treatment riant during the same period amounted to 117,326.00. A total of 143,999.64 was subscribed in savings bonds during 1*4* with 20.67^ of the employees partici pating and amcuntiiig to 2,44,i> of the total payroll.

The production resulting was 36,827.06 dry tons or fume assaying 69.342 zinc, showing a recovery or 84.1453& or zinc content or slag treated,
33,574.96 tons or fume was shipped to Great Palls for treatment in the Zinc Plant; 21.25 dry tons was sold locally, 606.02 tons was shipped to the American Chemet Corporation, 1,282.93 tons was shipped to kagle Picher Lead Company, and 1,095.18 tons was shipped to the Ozark Smelting and Mining Company.
The Slag Treating Plant operated continuously through out the year except Xor a Xew interruptions when the plant was shut down for flue cleaning and necessary repairs*
