CHECK- ACTION STEPS (Capital letters) and Comments (Small letters)
1. USE N2 TO PRESSURIZE DAY TANK SC ALL THE EC CAN BE PUMPED OUT. WHEN PUMP STARTS TO CAVITATE, THE TANK SHOULD BE EMPTY.
2. LINE THE DAY TANK THAT NEEDS TO BE CLEARED TO THE VENT HEADER. MAKE SURE THAT OTHER TANK VENTS ARE ALL CLOSED. Notify WTU that you are going to clear a day tank and will be increasing the vent flow to the incinerator.
3. SLOWLY OPEN UP INTO VENT HEADER AND START VENTING DAY TANK.
4. AFTER PRESSURE ON TANK GETS LOW, PRESSURIZE TANK AGAIN WITH N2,
5 . REPEAT THIS UNTIL THE TANK IS CLEAR.
6. BLEED VALVE ON VENT LINE CAN BE OPENED TO CHECK FOR EC.
7. WHEN TANK IS CLEARED, BE SURE THAT THE DO NOT OPERATE TAGS ARE HUNG ON' ALL VALVES.
HANG A TAG ON THE BOARD TO LET EVERYONE KNOW THAT THIS TANK IS OUT OF SERVICE FOR MAINTENANCE.

COMMENTS
ALL EC LEAD AND "B" OPEEATORS SHOULD BE FAMILIAR WITH THE DESCRIPTION OF THE EC DAY TANK AREA PROVIDED IN THE EC OPERATING MANUAL.
1. The VC-I Incinerator panel board includes a controller for the VDCM K.O. Pot FCV (FV-466) to the 6" Incinerator header, an alarm for liquid detection (LAH-1130) in the VDCM K.O. Pot, and a flow/pressure alarm for no-flow conditions (anti-backup) from an flow orifice located downstream of the VDCM K.O. Pot (Fe-466). EC lead operators are responsible for monitoring this and other vent flows to the incinerator header. See PPG Dwgs. Nos. 61A-100031.7 and 65A-10005.9.
2. Although the Organic Shipping Department (VC Rack) loaders are responsible for the correct alignment of the 3-way vent selection valve with which either EC or VDCM loading and storage vents are directed to the incinerator header, the EC operator(s) are responsible for the venting of the EC Day Tanks and the coordination of all venting activities with the WTU incinerator operator.
3. The EC Day Tanks are equipped with redundant high pressure alarms on the common vent header. The high pressure alarm is set for __ psig and the high-high pressure alarm is set for __ psig. Since this is a common high pressure alarm, the operator must make a round at the day tanks to determine which tank (or tanks) are at high pressure.
When venting of the EC Day Tanks becomes necessary, the EC operator should notify both the Shipping (VCM Rack) and the WTU incinerator operator that venting is necessary.
Prior notification should always be given to the WTU incinerator operator before EC vents are introduced to the incinerator header. The EC vent is fuel-rich and is called a "hot" vent which can lead to problems with temperature control on the incinerator.
