OFFICE MEMO" C TO: FROM: SUBJECT: .1 Concerned DATE: April 27,1971 irry Austin Safety end Health Regulations for Construction Attached is a copy of the rules, regulations and standards for the "Construction Safety Act" (federally assisted construction) which also will be the standards for private construction under the Occupa tional Safety and Health Act, Public Law 91-596, that is effective April 28,1971. Management ha6 determined that we will comply with these standards immediately. Some requirements to be met are subject to our Equipment Department receiving delivery and installing devices such as weight indi cators on cranes, hoists, derricks, etc. See that all of your supervisors familiarize themselves with all of the standards and that each craft supervisor is thoroughly briefed on the sections pertaining to his particular craft. Where we are not in compliance see that immediate action is taken to bring us in compliance. Further directives will be Issued. In the meantime, direct any ques tions concerning the standards to the Safety Department and questions on interpretation of the lav to Stan Rauhut, Legal Department.
