Voor dit onderwerp is er een tijdelijke ad hoc groep opgericht : AHG IPCWP (Intergovernmental Science-Policy Panel on Chemicals, Waste and Pollution). Iedereen die dit wenst kan zich hiervoor nog inschrijven. Er wordt voor deze ad hoc groep alsook een oproep gedaan tot een kandidaat voorzitter + National Focal Point (NFP).

Dear colleagues,
On 25 July 2022, the UNEP organised the first of a series of webinars to introduce a new science-policy panel on chemicals, waste and prevention of pollution prevention. (see invitation below)
Context: the idea to set up this Panel was mandated by UNEA; it emerged in the context of increased awareness of a triple crisis (biodiversity loss; climate change; pollution) and the need to address this third one through a process similar to the already existing panels (IPCC and IPBES). An ad hoc UNEP Working Group has started working on setting up the Panel this year, with the ambition of completing it by the end of 2024. You will find attached my notes of the meeting. "UNEP invites all interested parties to participate in the Science-policy panel's first webinar "A Science-policy panel on Chemicals, Waste and Pollution Prevention". The webinar will set the scene for globaljoint action to target chemicals, waste and pollution: from the Panel's background and scope to countries' priorities, and to the next steps towards the first meeting of the Ad Hoc Open Ended Working Group in October. It will also provide the opportunity to share views and perspectives on the process.
The webinar will be hosted on 25 July 2022 by GGKP at 12.00 PM GMT. All interested parties are invited to express their interest by filling in the form available at this link.
