Patent Office issued on June 3 1958 Patent No. 2,836,848 which is assigned to the Owens-Illinois Glass Company. This patent covers a method and apparatus for forming calcium silicate products and undoubtedly is the same equipment which Kaylo is using for pipe insulation at their Berlin, New Jersey plant. From your write-up of the visit of July 2 it was not entirely obvious whether Kaylo's equipment was similar to that of the Plant Rubber and Asbestos Company process or whether it is different. This recent patent apparently clarifies this point and since it gives a considerable amount of detail on the equipment and its operation I believe that a copy of the patent would be of interest to all receiving copies of this memo. cew te nu E.
