Mexico 1, D.F., Mexico Dear Antonio: Subject: Union Carbide Asbestos Recently I received a call from Ton Norris of Union Carbide. His purpose in calling was to determine what advice Armstrong had given Euzkadi to cause you to reject the use of Union Carbide asbestos. I presume your decision was based on our comments about the indifferent results we had once experienced when using California asbestos in our South Gate Plant. Mr. Norris went on to say that prior to the rejection, your chemists had tested this asbestos with favorable results. Upon hearing this, I once again ques tioned our technical people about California asbestos to be sure your decision was proper. After further discussion we have concluded that with your mixing, procedures and current product range, your experience with this type of asbes tos may be much more favorable than ours was at South Gate. In short, I suggest that you may want to reconsider the economic merits of pur chasing Union Carbide asbestos since this fiber may work acceptably in your process and this company certainly seems eager to service your needs. We would not want you to bypass an opportunity which may be in your best interests because of our experience which may not be parallel to your current situation. Best regards, M. V.
