WILLIAMS^0 TMNTOROEPT B/418 DATE YOUR LETTER losePH1TM " MONITORING RESULTS ON CHLORIDE MONOMER (VCM) During Che months of May, August, and September, sixty-one VCM readings were taken in Building 413 (Laboratory Areas), 414 (Process Area), 417 (Hydrin Area), and 416 (Laboratory Areas), to check the employees' exposure levels to VCM, The Vinyl Chloride OSHA Standard 1910.1017 states that the Permissible Exposure Limit for employees shall not be exposed to vinyl chloride at concentrations greater than lppm averaged over an 8-hour period nor at concentrations greater than 5ppm averaged over 15 minutes. Also, no employee may be exposed to vinyl chloride by direct contact with liquid vinyl chloride. It has been stated before that engineering and process changes have and will continue to be made to reduce exposure to VCM to the lowest practicable level. The Sampling results were obtained by means of a Mini Monitor called a Reiszner Badge. The Relszner Badge is two inches in diameter and a quarter inch thick. The badge weights 35 grams and contains 1.35-gram loadings of the Reiszner activated coconut-based charcoal to collect the VCM. THe badge is easily placed near the breathing zone without restricting the movements of the weaTer. The VCM analysis was performed in the Brecksvllle Department- 8506 Lab.
