Is this still correct for uranium? We have a deadline Wednesday so a prompt response from the SLAM staff would be appreciated. "Mining claims for uranium are in place in several western states including UT, AZ and NM. Most interest is focused in northern NM where small mine proposals have been filed on the Cibola NF. However no operating plans have been approved. In AZ, the Canyon Mine began operations in 2013, however idled due to a drop in uranium prices. The Canyon Mine lies within the area of mineral withdrawal adjacent to Grand Canyon NP, however a validity examination determined that the mine had valid existing rights to continue operations in the withdrawal area.
