With reference to and specification is inadequate and ceeding with this your request for development of a Dust test method for Kaylo my information regarding this problem I would like to have a clarification before proproject 1 Is the dust a combination of all material cut from the Kaylo by the saw 2 is it the residue remaining on the cut surfaces 3 is it the material which is thrown out by the saw teeth or 4 is the problem dust airborne as might occur during appli- cation Sen I believe that Mr. Boynton or someone else in the field should de- termine the source of the problem dust This is essential since the variability of saw teeth between saws and with wear will undoubtedly cause variability in dust test results The effect of the type of the saw and its condition will probably affect not only the dust which is thrown out by the teeth but also the dust retained on the cut surfaces The collection of dust should be relatively simple using the same type equipment presently used on & dust level measurements .
