SHERWIN-WILLIAMS ENVIRONMENTAL STUDY AT OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA
This is to confirm our negotiations with D. A. A yres, M anager of A dm inistration Purchasing at Cleveland, regarding the proposed industrial hygiene survey for the Oakland plant. We had agreed to the proposal offered in your letter dated O ctober 19 to M r. Bob B urke, Plant M anager, at Oakland, C alifornia. This proposal included a talc survey which our departm ent had agreed to supply at no charge plus a fum e/vapor and asbestos fiber survey on which you provided a quotation. In a telephone conversation on O ctober 20 A yres declined to obtain the survey as proposed. A yres stated that they would obtain a com plete survey under the auspices of their insurance company at no charge to them . A yres requested to be provided a copy of your letter directed to B urke at Oakland in the event that further consideration would be given to this proposal. I suggest that Bill Brom m follow up with Bob Burke at Oakland for any further consideration of this survey. I will follow up again with A yres in Cleveland for renew al of in terest. It is possible that they may evidence further in terest in the talc survey. We are in terested in pursuing the talc survey aspect for defensive m arketing needs. You advised that you would inform the Engineering Hygienist D epartm ent to relieve them from the com m itm ent made for O ctober 25 - 26 to conduct the survey at Oakland, C alifornia. We w ill follow this up with the custom er as required.
