INDUSTRIAL MINERALS MEMO TO: Svead Stubb FROM: Doug Merrill SUBJECT: INDUSTRIAL MINERALS REPORT October 26, 1978 The pick up points from the new dust collector were not adequate to control the dust when running our more dusty products through the "Jaw" and "Roll"crushers. We are adding pick up points and improving the enclosure' of the points that proved to be generating dust. The county inspector has requested that Ken run a line from the dust collector to the bulk truck loading area to relieve the pressure and collect dust during the loading of bulk trucks. This latter job should be completed this week. The concrete portion of the drain has been completed. We still need to dig a trench to the street and fill it with gravel. When we do this we will also clean out the ditch at the street which has gradually become partially filled with sediment. The roof repair job is scheduled to begin on Monday, October 30, 1978. On Wednesday, October 25, 1978, Mr. Moore called Capitol Alarm Systems and requested that they re>evaluate their proposal considering the problems that may occur with contacts on the doors that are subject to vibration. He also called Hugh Cowan, representing the Florin Union, in answer to a letter from Cowan. The letter requested a meeting to set a policy for taking continuous vacation ( three or four weeks at a time). A November meeting in San Carlos will be set by Mr. Moore next week. Mr. Moore requested that, if Harvey Leabo does not have a buyer for the Dixie Hamraermill, we should advertise it to people like Perry for $12,500. We have completed our purchase of Banta clay. The miner that agreed to stockpile our L.C. Kaolin at the deposit has not started and apparently is very busy and is uncertain when he will begin. We are now looking for someone else. Last Thursday we conducted a test run of Barite for Western Mud. We achieved an 8.6 ton per hour production^ which is very good. We are hopeful of having a written agreement for a minimum commitment of 1500 tons per month. This will add another shift to one of our Raymond Mills. &9j2b ^ 037
