It is entirely possible, even likely, that you will have little knowledge of or interest in The Kettering Laboratory. Some of the people in Standard Oil (Dr. Adams, for example and r. Collings more recently) know us and some of our activities quite well, however, and I am emboldered to write to you on that account. This request is made on such short notice that I should be embarrassed in suggesting that you suit your convenience to mine. I am merely taking the chance, since I could not arrange rny own schedule in advance, that I may find you free to see me. I shall telephone your office and if I can see you I shall be pleased.
