Andrews of Pennsylvania Glass Sand Co. through Mr. Waters ar.d discussed many problem^ including their work in producing damp sand. Its purpose is to provide glass companies with a dustless product. They are spending *50,000. on new eo.uipsent to produce it with moisture controlled. This suggested an ides, voiced to Mr. Andrews, that if a very small amount of silica 'gel, e.g., 1/2^, would cement the fines together, the material could be marketed dry and be dustless. Ever, simpler would be the addition of a small amount of sodium silicate to the material since both ions are compatible with the use in glass manufacture. Wednesday morning went to New York with J.F. McMahon snd Dr. Hazlett. Visited Mr. S.H. Walker, Industrial Relations Director for Vanadium Corp. and discussed matters with him for 10 minutes.' He will call on us in Pittsburgh at an early date to continue discussions. (Dr. McKinley of West Virginia was present before and after.) Attended Medical Committee meeting in afternoon.
