T.T.O. IS DOUBLE WATERPROOF Outstanding among the qualities of Thermolyzed Tung Oil is its phenomenal resistance to water. Where ordinary paint oils have a marked affinity for water and readily combine with it to form weak, soapy compounds, Thermolyzed Tung Oil repels and is unaffected by water. The simple test pictured at the left illustrates that fact very vividly. A piece of glass has been coated half with ordinary paint oil, half with T.T.O. The oils have been allowed to dry on the glass and then it has been put in water over night. As the photo graph indicates, the ordinary oil has turned into an opaque, weak soap substance . . . the T.T.O. is as clear and strong as when first applied. When paint made with ordinary oil is exposed to rain and snow, this "soaping" action occurs . . . somewhat invisibly because of the pigment . . . but i just as surely as it has occurred on this piece of f glass! The binding, cementing ability of the "soaped" i oil is weak, unstable . . . no more than a fraction as effective as the strong, unaffected Thermolyzed Tung Oil! The old Master Painter's axiom that "the oil is the life of the paint" was never more powerfully borne out in practice than it is now. Thermolyzed Tung Oil cements and binds pigment particles more firmly . . . and longer than any of the oils previously available. Once again the time is here for painting ... in side . . . and outside . . . the season in which painters and paint makers can reap their greatest harvest of business. It is the conviction of most paint prophets that the 1935 season will be especially good ... in volume of business . . . but most particularly in the public's demand for higher quality in workmanship and in material. Already unmistakable signs have appeared . . . property owners want quality, durable results. Probably not the least of reasons for this improved sentiment is the highly unfortunate results that thou sands of them have gotten with cheap workmanship and materials in the past few years. Experienced painters in all parts of the country are finding prospects more receptive to their crafts manship arguments . ,, . more willing to pay for the fine kind of work they want to do. Quality paint makers too, are meeting less resist ance. An outstanding example of this condition is the surge of buying toward T.T.O. PAINT, which has already made itself evident. Homeowners every where who thought only in terms of price a year ago are talking T.T.O. PAINT this year. Master Paint ers, finding the return of quality buying, are looking to T.T.O. PAINT as their most certain means of turning out the best looking, most dependable work they have ever done. Contractors who have not already acquainted themselves by actual trial with this new material will certainly lose no time and may profit surprisingly by finding out just what T.T.O. PAINT can do for them in helping them satisfy the quality demand . . . and get "more than their share" of the business in this 1935 season. Property owners who are seeking solid, economical results are urged to test T.T.O. PAINT. The manifest uses and great versatility of T.T.O. PAINT are illustrated by the photographs on these pages. Even after six years experience every new T.T.O. job seems to add a little something to its record ... to its growing reputation as the finest finish for any exterior architectural painting surface. 49 TOC 001988 T.
