Sub/ect VERMICULITE
My commendation to you on a thorough and comprehensive approach to the vermiculite/asbestos matter outlined in your letter of 4/7/87, agree with your recommendation that the Material Purchase Specification for vermiculite be revised, that we avoid purchasing any vermiculite from W. R. Graces' Libby, Montana mine and that we should continue following the Gas Products Safety Manual precautions for handling vermiculite.
I feel a bit uncomfortable in terminating the vermiculite testing in the remaining cold boxes, even though our track record to date indicates no abestos anywhere. The additional $3,500 required to finish the testing in the remaining cold boxes is, in my opinion, a reasonable amount to pay in order to close this matter for all time. I would hate to defend a future Worker's Compensation claim on the basis that we neglected to finish the Job.
Other than that, I am in full agreement with your letter of 4/7/87.
