Dear Sirs
1
The indicated total profit lnjl948 from the operation of
the East Helena Slag Treatment Plant plwa the profit from the zinc plant treatment of fume produced, and from sale of fume to others is $3,227,072.00 before allowance for Eastern Expense and depreci ation.
Part of the fume produced at East Helena was sold to out siders such as Eagle Plcher Lead Company and American Cheraet Corpo ration. The remaining fume was shipped to Great Palls for treatment thru the zinc plant. Had we purchased zinc concentrate under the terms of the 1943 Sullivan Mining Company contract to produce the same amount of zinc as that recovered from East Helena fine in our zinc plants, we would have derived a profit of $942,137 from the treatment of the concentrate which would have replaced fume.
The profit which may be said to have been due solely to the operation of the East Helena Slag Treatment Plant amounted to $2,284,935.
I
The amount paid the American Smelting and Refining Company for slag purchased for treatment at East Helena in 1948 was $1,905,248
Tours very truly.
